SEO For Your Art Auction

Published by weborglodge at 10:50 am under Marketing Edit This

I just finished reviewing my auction template to put a painting for sale tonight.  I’ve updated my website this year with a new look.  Naturally, I had to edit my template to reflect my site and do some SEO for my art auction.

Many factors determining your page rank are out of your control.  What you can control are things like your layout and your keywords, factors that can influence your organic listings.  These on-page factors help your listing in major search engines like Google and Yahoo.  Here are a few things to consider when placing your auction.

Your title is key.  Focus on the long tail keywords, the ones that target your specific niche.  What kind of painting is it?  What is the subject?  Genre?  Good choices for keywords will put your work before a more targeted audience.  These are people searching for a specific product.  Help them find it.

Next is your text. Again, the more specific keywords are best.  Try to bold your keyword.  If you’re familiar with HTML, try to use headings to draw more attention to your keyword.  Crawlers interpret bolded words and headings as more important.

Finally, look at your auction image.  The name of the file is another opportunity to target your listing.  If your auction allows you to edit the source, make sure you’re including alt attributes on your image with your keyword.

Search engine optimization is important even for your temporary online presence opportunities.  That’s why SEO management services make the big bucks.  Next time you list, take the time to review your auction.  Simple SEO tweaks can make the difference between a sold work and an unsold painting.
